Yes, they are possible. It is matter of 90% good fractal skills and 10% explorer's luck. The result is always beautiful and different. Such images are the cherry of the cake. :)
To me fractal art is not in overlaying different fractal images for getting some strange result. It is not in applying various rich gradients in order to achieve colorful picture. It is not in removing image parts via mapping and it is not in post processing via Photoshop etc.
The art of making fractal images is in:
- Exploring formulas for discovering a perspective one; then in
- Finding a proper coloring algorithm for that formula; then in
- Selecting suitable palette; then in
- Applying simple (2-3 points) gradient; and in the end the most difficult:
- Rejecting 99% of created images and recognizing the superior ones.
